EMPOWERING SURVIVORS

CONNECTING THRIVERS

Our Mission

At "Survivors Rising," our mission is to harness the power of personal connections through mentorship to empower and uplift survivors of sexual assault. We are dedicated to fostering a supportive community where survivors can find strength, healing, and hope as they journey toward reclaiming their lives.

A study examining 150 individuals who shared their experiences of sexual abuse and mentioned having a positive adult mentor discovered that connecting with a mentor earlier in life is linked to improved socio-emotional wellbeing.1 With our volunteer-led mentorship program, we aim to provide a supportive environment where survivors can connect with others who have been through similar experiences and receive the guidance, support and encouragement they need.

We are in search of committed volunteers who have overcome the trials of sexual assault and have emerged as thrivers, like you, to become part of our mentorship program. Your role is straightforward yet incredibly meaningful: shine as a beacon of hope, a trusted friend, and a mentor to a new survivor.

Mentorship Matters

Survivors often face isolation, self-doubt, and the daunting task of rebuilding their lives. Your support can make all the difference.

"1 out of every 6 American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime."
"1 in 33 American men have experienced an attempted or completed rape in their lifetime"
"The economic cost is approximately $3.1 trillion dollars over the lifetimes of  25 million victims."

Our Program

Our initiative, "Survivors Rising," connects Thrivers (Mentors) with Survivors (Mentees) seeking support, guidance, and connection to foster healing and growth in those who have endured trauma.

In this transformative program, survivors are matched with individuals who have successfully navigated similar challenges and are flourishing in their lives. Mentors commit to 2-3 sessions per month over a 6-month period, each lasting a few hours, engaging in activities like yoga, horseback riding, or participating in improv classes. These chosen activities align with our core principles, promoting solution-oriented conversations.

Through shared stories, guidance, and encouragement, mentor-mentee relationships become potent tools for healing and growth. Survivors not only gain practical insights and coping strategies but also a sense of belonging and empowerment.

By becoming a mentor with "Survivors Rising," you join a community dedicated to making a positive impact. No special skills are required, and you don't need to be a therapist or counselor. We provide training and ongoing support to ensure you're well-prepared for this meaningful journey. Applicants must be 18 years and older.
